A Daisy Interlude

Daisy swung in fast. We had gigs booked. But almost
immediately there seemed to be some issues
(can happen.) There was a lot of stress in our
rehearsal/gig schedule. And it turned out Daisy
had personal demons incompatible with performing.
Daisy's last gig with snakes & ladders was
live on WCUW. June 26, though at the time none
of us knew it. We parted amicably and it was
onto the next chapter.

About the WCUW audio/video

Hipbone on Cheap-TV

Two days after the WCUW gig, Bret Hart came back up
from North Carolina and rehearsed with Pete and Keith.
The practice was taped for a Cheap TV episode called
Hipbone & Friends. The following day they, with me
and Greg, played the WAG. Bret would play two more gigs,
at Cool Beans (coffee house next to the Lucky Dog)
and The Call in RI. It would be another six years
before they would reunite again

                                        Enter John

Important dates -

April 14, The Overtones appear on Cheap-TV

June 6, WCUW in Worcester,
The Overtones fire their drummer on Louie Despres'
radio show (She failed to show up.) Effectively ending The Overtones.
Mark Mandeville and John Voegtlin would continue to
gig, tour and record together.

At the beginning of July, I asked John Voegtlin
if he would be interested on joining snakes & ladders.
He said yes and we began rehearsing.
The first thing Greg and I noticed is that John's time was solid,
he was dependable and did his homework.

Our first gig with John was at Singletary Rod and Gun Club, July 18.
It was a benefit. There was a video recorded but that has been lost
to antiquity. We began playing in Worcester, Providence and Boston.
We were lucky to be invited to play Wormfest, held at Institute Park,
in Worcester. We were also invited to play StArt in The Street,
an arts festival also in Worcester. These were prestigious gigs for us
