Cheap – TV I'm not even sure how it started or who suggested the idea, but in the fall 2001, Jim Cosgrove and I began making Cheap-TV. He had some band footage, from a show he covered. that was edited and mutated.. We did some live shoots, at The Call in RI and then started bringing bands into the studio. Some great artists appeared on the show, Michael Thibodeau, Patty Keough, Difference Engine, The Overtones, Dan Chauvin, The Prose Brothers (Damn the Man!) For a year and half, every Monday we'd shoot the show and Weds we'd edit. Jim Produced, taking care of the tech. I booked the groups, brought in gear, did sound and made intros. We had a motto, “we've spared no expense for your entertainment.” Sadly, it all ended when the bassist for The Charms got his ass busted, in Hopkinton High's parking lot, for drinking. That plus an ongoing battle between Jim and the TV instructor for Hop High spelled death for Cheap-TV. Last show taped was Dec. 30, 2002.

December 2001 snakes & ladders played the Wormtown Christmas party, via an invitation from Wormtown Minister of Culture, Brian Goslow. It was our introduction to the Wormtown scene. Connected were an on-line Bulletin board, an open mic at The Lucky Dog (Wormtown Wednesday) and a lot of bands from multiple genres sharing gigs. It was the first time we saw and met The Overtones. And the night I met Chris Cah. |

Noah Departs
On April 3th Noah announced he was leaving the band.
His partner was pregnant. He felt he could not parent
and participate at the same time. It was disappointing.
We had made some incredible music together but life moves on.
We had our last recording session on April 30th.
I wanted to demo the last handful of songs we rehearsed.
Then on May 4th , we performed our last gig together,
in Leominster, MA. No one was there. It didn't matter.
We had an incredible journey and the sound of that band
was because of Noah's presence. It was amazing.
At the same time, I had become associated
with Daisy Chaynes (through a mutual friend.)
She started recording at Toad Hall. I asked her
if she wanted to join up on bass. Daisy said yeah.
Our first rehearsal was May 7th.
