The Official History of Instant Dogma

(Woodrose, snakes & ladders, Freak Music,
Punk Rock Treehouse and everything else.)
1983/1984
The Southboro Art Center

In July of 1983 we moved into, then began building
a basement studio, at the Southboro Art Center.

We would be headquartered there for a little over two years.
The Woodrose Comedy Hour video project began there,
as well as our alliance with Condition Red
(Mick Lawless and Eric Bartlett.)

In October we acquired a Tascam 234
Multitrack cassette recorder.

We planned to take over the world.

We started getting it together.
commissioned some spiffy promo pics
to go with our spiffy demo.

And we started recording
At first we had to rent mics and mixer (see left.)
But eventually we copped the required gear
and we were on our way.

While we indulged our creative whims,
Cathi was out booking club gigs, scoring radio interviews
and on-air performances. She did a great job as our agent.
We took advantage of every connection she made.
The dance card was getting full real fast
.

During the week Woodrose would rehearse, gig or record.
On the weekends, Greg and I would experiment
or Eric might stop by to demo a song
or there might be a showing of the Monkees movie (HEAD.)

There was no shortage of activity.
