Summer 1983 After Leanna’s departure in March and prior to ours in June, Dave, Greg and I decided we needed a new demo. Of course that meant making an album, because album. We saw an ad in a local music fanzine and found some kid with a home studio setup. A scheme was concocted. Session time was booked. Drums, bass and guitar were recorded live to cassette. The stereo source was transferred onto two tracks of a four track tape. Vocals were overdubbed, in addition to an ARP Quartet and found source material. Mixed fast and dirty, The System is Down Demo was born. Two different versions were released, four song and ten song. Clubs got the short demo, radio received the album. We got a bunch of mileage from it. Those songs also made up the bulk of our set, up until the Automatic There EP. Go here to get the recording Go here for a video |
