The Official History of Instant Dogma

Punk Rock Treehouse and everything else.)

Spring/Summer

I had my drinking friends (Dave Eisan, Jimmy Cail)
and my weed friends (Danny, Eric, Greg etc.)
And occasionally we'd all get together and Jam.
When that wasn't happening I was down at The Place
trying to get some action. That plus roadying for Shadow
and dealing with school was enough to keep me busy.
But not enough to keep me satisfied.
I wanted to be in a band and play out.
I wanted to ask Shadow to play rhythm guitar
and sing for them. But I was out of their league
or at least thought so.

Fall /Winter

Enter this guy -
This is Michael (Mick) Miller.
We met when he was checking my drawing
(of
an elaborate rock band) that had been
posted in the school hallway.
It didn't take long before I found out he played guitar.
Then all I had to do is talk him into playing bass.

Spring/Summer 1977

This happened.
Below Zero. Jimmy Cail on drums, Mick on bass
We practiced a bit. We drank a bit.
We did not gig a whole bunch.
My guess here is the drinking may have
had something to do with that.
And...
It fell apart, more or less like clockwork.

Fall, 1977

Mick had dropped out of school,
Eric, Greg and Danny had graduated (they were all ahead of me.)
My drinking friends were kinda fading away, into their own thing.
Something was about to change.
A lot of things were about to change.
